The Medical and Genetic Laboratory department was organized on October 11, 2013 and is part of the medical and genetic service of the Perinatal Center.

The composition of the medical and genetic laboratory department includes:

• laboratory of mass (neonatal) screening;
• cytogenetic laboratory;
• laboratory of molecular genetic diagnostics;
• selective screening laboratory.

The department employs certified specialists who have been trained in leading regional centers in specialized departments. The high qualification of the laboratory's specialists combined with modern advanced equipment allows for unique, high-precision types of research.

Laboratory diagnostics is represented by a wide range of modern high-tech genetic methods: cytogenetic, molecular genetic (PCR), molecular cytogenetic (FISH).
